Required the following positions for a supervision contract in Iraq on a highway rehabilitation project expected to start early 2021

  1. Materials Engineer, A minimum of B.Sc. degree in Geotechnical Engineering /Civil Engineering/Material Science with at least 15 (fifteen) years of experience in civil engineering works including international/ global experience, out of which at least 5(five) years as materials engineers in road works especially in asphalt pavement concrete involving placement of asphalt concrete and stabilized pavement materials. Her/his duties shall include, but not be limited to: scrutinize documents for imported materials or manufactured items to ensure compliance with specifications, test and record results on standard forms showing exact location of the materials in the works and their origin, certification of all materials to be used in the works in terms of quality and quantity. S/he shall also be in charge of all materials to be incorporated into the works including asphalt concrete, as well as utilization of material sites and waste deposit sites. They shall as well carry out tests on completed works in order to check compliance with specification requirements of the works operations after the materials have been placed in the field. Experience of working for at least 3 (three) years in countries with similar conditions, in similar projects and in the same capacity, and good knowledge of Arabic will be an added advantage;

  2. Pavement Engineer, A minimum of B.Sc. degree in Geotechnical Engineering /Civil Engineering/Material Science with at least 15 (fifteen) years of experience in civil engineering works including international/ global experience, out of which at least 5(five) years in the design and supervision of pavement works, in materials testing and pavement design for projects located in different types of terrain and soils and with different types of traffic loading to include extensive experience in asphalt pavement overlay techniques and types such as polymerized asphalt pavement concrete (PG). S/he will be in charge of pavement design review and all asphalt works.

  3. Environmental Expert, A minimum of B.Sc. degree in related field with at least 10 (ten) years of experience in environmental management and monitoring including international/ global experience, out of which at least 5 (five) years in road construction, rehabilitation/reconstruction projects, and be experienced in WB safeguards policies. S/he will be in charge of all environmental aspects of the works, and implementation of the environmental impact mitigation measures as defined in the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) prepared specifically for this project. S/he will also instruct the contractor of measures to ensure full compliance with these measures as well as report on such compliance. S/he will also advise on any penalties that should be imposed on the contractor should there is none compliance; Iraqi professionals are preferred.

  4. Social Expert, A minimum of B.Sc. degree of a graduate degree in related field with at least 10 (ten) years of experience in the social issues including international/ global experience, out of which at least 5 (five) years in road construction, rehabilitation/reconstruction projects, and be experienced in WB safeguards policies. S/he will be in charge of all social aspects of works and overseeing the implementation of social impact mitigation measures and ESMP prepared specifically for this project, assessing if the contractor’s adopted process complies with the WB safeguards policies, providing instructions for corrections and reporting on such compliance. S/he will also advise on any penalties that should be imposed on the contractors should there is persistent non-compliance. Additionally, the social consultant should ensure that the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) is functioning properly and all complaints or requests are registered and documented in the subproject file. Iraqi professionals are preferred.

  5. Jr. Site Engineer: A minimum of B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering with 5 years of experience in similar works.  Responsible for Supervision of site works – materials and workmanship.  Maintaining records of the Contractor’s activities, plant and labour. Maintaining records of complete works.  Iraqi professionals are preferred.

  6. Jr. Road Safety Expert:  A university degree in Civil Engineering or similar degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant works.  This expert shall assit the road safety expert in-charge in the review of the traffic management plans and traffic diversions during construction and ensuring all temporary traffic diversions are maintained in a safe clean condition for the road users, monitor all temporary road networks on the construction site to ensure safe use. Iraqi professionals are preferred.
