Narrative Description of Project:

The project is part of the corridor improvement program intended to increase traffic capacity along seven main highly congested corridors entering the city of Beirut.
The grade separations consist of underpasses with double cells cut and cover tunnels, carrying 2-lane traffic roadways of 7.40 m width. The clear width of each cell is 8.40 m. 
The works occur in an urban setting along highly congested corridors where special attention is given to detouring of traffic and reducing negative impacts on abutting properties. Environmental monitoring as far as required by the Health and Safety high standard regulations is strictly observed. As well, protection of cultural heritage and archaeological remains, together with social responsibility are also integrated into the project implementation. 
The works include:
– Earthworks and pavement construction 
– Reinforced concrete underpasses & Retaining walls
– Storm water drainage network
– Signing, road marking and safety barriers
– Relocation of existing dry and wet utilities
– Reinstatement of roads interfered by the works.
– Traffic management during construction
– Lighting, telephone network, landscaping…

Approx. value of works is USD 9 million.

Description of Actual Services Provided:

– Assistance in Tendering and Procurement, Bid Evaluation and Advisory Assistance to the Client.
– Quality assurance and checking conformity with contract requirements in terms of legal aspects, materials specifications, construction methods and workmanship
– Day-to-day construction supervision of all works.
– Construction schedule follow-up, updating and time control.
– Evaluation of cost and time implications of variations.
– Keeping records of tests, inspection approvals….
– Quantities computation, review of the contractor payment applications, and certifying for payment.
– Daily, monthly and final reports preparation to the Client.
– Snag listing and assistance during project reception.
– Services during defects liability period
