Narrative Description of Project:

The project is the rehabilitation of the section KM272-365KM of the Bishkk Nayrn-Torugart Road.
The Bishkek-Naryn- Torugart road is approximately 539Km. The Bishkek- Torugart road is an important regional trade corridor that forms part of the CAREC Transport Corridor 1, recently endorsed by the CAREC participating countries. It is also an important historical heritage as part of the Great Silk Road that linked ancient China to trade with the west. This contract is concerned with rehabilitating its central section between Km 272 and Km 365.

The Major components of the work will include but not necessarily be limited to:

• • New construction of single and double layer asphalt concrete pavement; base course from crushed stone and gravely sub-base;

• • Earthwork;

• • Widening of subgrade and construction of a new subgrade on the sections with re-routing;

• • Re-routing of the alignment on small stretches where improvements in horizontal alignment were possible;

• • Demolition and construction of new pipes; widening of pipes and their repair;

• • Improvement of soil stability and treatment of land slide that may include subject to designs performed during construction, reinforced concrete piles.

• • Bridge rehabilitation, include widening and strengthening.

• • Construction of roadside drainage, construction of the irrigation canals and chutes;

• • Installing road signs, road marking, kilometer posts and barriers, snow fences;

• • Construction of sidewalks in the settlement;

• • New construction of bus stops and enclosed bus stops.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff:

• • Preparation of Tender Documents for Procurement of Road Maintenance Equipment and analyzing the received bids.

• • Review of design and tender documents for road rehabilitation.

• • Prequalification of road contractors and analysis of received application.

• • Analysis of received construction bids.

• Construction supervision and reporting on completion the works.
