Narrative Description of Project:
RTA Dubai, in preparation for putting Metro Dubai in service, has purchased some 2,500 city buses to complement its bus based public transport services and provide a dense feeder system to the Metro. This involves a sizeable increase in the bus transport services. RTA wishes to develop the mechanisms for involving the private sector in providing transport service, operations, and maintenance.
Description of Actual Services Provided by Our Staff:
Services provided included review of best-practice worldwide regarding outsourcing of public transport services, advising on the form of contract, and proposing tactics for avoiding possible human resource problems.
This Phase 1 is to be followed by another which involves assistance during procurement.
