Project Details

The objective of the project is to enhance the managerial, organizational and marketing skills and capabilities of a selected group of senior management of six public spinning & weaving companies. The textile industry was selected as it is one of the major industry sectors in Egypt, both in terms of income earning potential & employment, with a considerable economic impact on the agricultural sector (six companies were selected). The managerial dimension of the textile enterprises selected turned out to be a critical factor affecting their performance. Thus managers need intensive training to support the implementation of divestment & restructuring programs.

The program logic can be defined in terms of:

    • Needs for strengthening of managerial capabilities, as instrumental in the realization of enterprises reforms.

    • The need for a strict action-orientation in the training of managers.

    • An orientation on enterprise operations under competitive conditions.

    • Privatization approaches to be embedded in the privatization process, as enacted now by the PEO (public enterprise office).

    • Advanced course coverage, capitalizing on the already considerable experience of the managers concerned.

    • Course implementation with a strong involvement of expertise in the egyptian consulting- and training sector.

The program being a pilot, for a limited number of enterprises, is designed to lead to a larger scale training in subsequent stages and the requirement for replicability of the training, both at enterprise- and industry level.
