Narrative Description of Project:

Jeita, Aintoura and Ghazir are suburbs of Beirut in Keserwan. They developed to heavily built residential and business areas and contain now large school and university establishments. This new situation makes traffic congestion a daily source of suffering.

The project access roads are as follows:
Aintoura – Jeita Road:
a) Rehabilitating and widening the existing road section (approximately 2.5 km) between Aintoura and Jeita road bifurcation.
b) Building the road link (approximately 0.8 km) bypassing the skewed intersection with the road mentioned in (a) above and terminating near Aintoura school at the same road.
c) Rehabilitating the road link from Jeita Grotto intersection to Zouk bifurcation (approximately 0.6 km) including the rond-point Jeita.
Ghazir – Jdeidet Ghazir Road:
a) Rehabilitating and widening the existing road section (approximately 2.2 km) between Ghazir and Jdeidet Ghazir.
b) Building a new road link adjacent to the existing road (approximately 0.7 km).

The above access roads, of 6.8km total length, are located in a mountainous region. Works included earthwork, drainage structures, reinforced concrete and masonry retaining walls, pavement construction and asphalt overlays, road lighting, marking and signing.

The cumulative construction work value is 7.0 million USD.
